Jakarta, Indonesia (AHN) - Former World No. 1 Lindsay Davenport will make her return to competitive tennis at the Wismilak International on the island of Bali in September, event organizers announced on Tuesday.
Davenport, who recently gave birth to a baby boy, also previously announced that she will play doubles with fellow American Lisa Raymond at New Haven in August.
Davenport has not played a competitive match since advancing to the quarterfinals, where she lost to Amelie Mauresmo, at Beijing in Sept. 2006.
Davenport, who won at Wismilak in 2005, is a three-time Grand Slam champion and Olympic Gold Medalist for her outstanding effort at the 1996 Olympics held in Atlanta.
Davenport has also been No. 1 in the world in doubles as well as singles.
Davenport gave birth to her first child, Jagger, on June 10th.
Also on the schedule to play at the Bali tournament beginning Sept. 10 are world No. 3 Jelena Jankovic, Daniela Hantuchova and lefty Patty Schnyder.
