Paris, France (AHN) - Justine Henin will try to match Monica Seles by winning her third consecutive French Open women's singles final.
The top-seeded Henin defeated Serbia's Jelena Jankovic 6-2, 6-2 Thursday and will face another Serb, Ana Ivanovic, who beat Maria Sharapova 6-2, 6-1 in Saturday's final.
Henin, a 25-year-old Belgian, can match the three straight titles record in the Open era (after 1968) by Seles, who won at Roland Garros from 1990 through 1992. Henin also has won the U.S. and Australian opens.
"I expected a tough battle against her - all our previous games have been that way so I tried to take command right from the start," Henin told reporters. "I think she took a heavy blow to her morale by losing her serve so easily at the end of the first set and that allowed me to open strongly in the second set. It will be a very hard match against Ivanovic."
Henin closed out the overmatched Jankovic on her first match point of the day, as the Serb misfired wide of the court on one final forehand.
Henin is 6-0 lifetime against Jankovic, including four victories already this season. She also beat Jankovic in last year's U.S. Open semifinals.
"It was disappointing for me to lose like this," Jankovic said. "But I think Justine was a way better player than I was today. All credit to her, she played really well, flawless."
Henin has won her last 33 sets at Roland Garros, which is an Open era record, and is 34-4 in her career at the French Open.
