Wimbledon, England (AHN) - In Day 3 of Wimbledon on the women's side, Justine Henin continued her march towards the career grand slam, Serena Williams kept the American hope for the title going, while a few seeded players were given early exits thanks to some upset victories.

Henin, the top overall seed after winning her third consecutive French Open, disposed of Vera Dushevina in an hour. The Beligian beat Dushevina 6-0, 6-4, while converting 5-of-7 break point opportunities and smacking 27 winners.

Williams, No. 7, was not quite as dominant in her 7-6, 6-3 win over Alicia Molik. Serena's service game was on, as she connected for 10 aces and revved her serve up to 121 mph, but Molik broke her three times.

Williams' baseline game proved to be a little too strong, however, as she delivered 35 total winners and broke Molik in 4-of-8 opportunities.

No. 9 Martina Hingis also moved on to the third round with a convincing 6-1, 6-2 win over Aiko Nakamura.

While No. 3 Jelena Jankovic, No. 6 Ana Ivanovic, No. 12 Elena Dementieva, No. 13 Dinara Safina, No. 14 Nicole Vaidisova, No. 16 Shahar Peer, No. 17 Tatiana Golovin and No. 21 Tathiana Garbin all moved on, a few ranked players were shown the door.

American Laura Granville pulled off an upset when she beat No. 20 Sybille Bammer 6-1, 6-4 to move on to the third round.

Milagros Sequera also knocked off No. 27 Samantha Stosur 6-2, 5-7, 6-4 and Virginia Ruano Pascual rounded out Wednesday's upsets with a win over No. 22 Anabel Medina Garriques, 6-3, 2-6, 6-2 in first round action.

Henin will move on to play Elena Vesnina in the next round while Williams will match-up with Mialgros Sequera and Hingis will battle the American Laura Granville.
