Wimbledon, England (AHN) - The world's No. 1 ranked female tennis player Justine Henin, fresh off capturing her third straight French Open title and fourth overall, earned the top seed in the Wimbledon and will face qualifier Jorgelina Cravero in the opening round.
Henin, a Wimbledon championship away from a career Grand Slam, could meet two-time champion Serena Williams in the quarterfinals, as they did in this year's French Open. Henin downed the America's last hope in the tournament handily 6-4, 6-3, in a match that flustered Williams to the point where she slammed her racket on the ground, drawing boos from the crowd.
Williams is matched up against Lourdes Dominguez Lino in the first round.
Martina Hingis, Jelena Jankovic and Anna Chakvetadze are also included in the top half of the draw with Henin and Williams.
Hingis was the 1997 winner at the All England Club and will start her bid for a sixth Grand Slam title by playing Naomi Cavaday in first-round action.
Former world No. 1, fourth-seeded Amelie Mauresmo, who won Wimbledon and the Australian Open a year ago, takes on American Jamea Jackson in a first-round match and could meet French Open runner-up Ana Ivanovic in the quarterfinals.
There's potential of Mauresmo meeting 2004 champion Maria Sharapova or three-time winner Venus Williams in the semifinals.
Sharapova will be matched up with Yung-Jan Chan in the first round.
Mauresmo knocked off Henin in the finals at both Wimbledon and the Australian Open last year en route to her only two Grand Slam titles. After dropping the first set to Henin last summer, Mauresmo went on to take the title 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 at Wimbledon.
