Eastbourne, England (AHN) - Justine Henin advanced to the semifinals of the Eastbourne International on Thursday with a dominating 6-2, 6-2 victory over Czech teenager Nicole Vaidisova.
Henin, the world's top-ranked player who is coming off of her third straight French Open title and fourth overall, disposed of Vaidisova in just 55 minutes. Henin took a 5-0 advantage after 20 minutes and Vaidisova managed only one game point.
"I was very happy the way I played, and the way I served especially," said Henin, who needs a win at Wimbledon to complete the career grand slam. "My attitude and the way I played tactically was very good and she never really had the time to get a rhythm and really be into the match."
Henin will play eighth seed Marion Bartoli in the semifinals. Bartoli defeated fourth seed Elena Dementieva 6-1, 6-0 in 71 minutes.
In other action, Nadia Petrova beat Sybille Bammer 6-7, 7-5, 6-4 in a match that nearly hit the three-hour mark. Petrova will play the winner of the Amelie Mauresmo-Israeli Shahar Peer.
