Mount Pleasant, SC (AHN) - Michelle Wie sounds like any normal teenage girl. A senior in high school, Wie is eying a return to the LPGA Tour, although she used her time off to get reacquainted with friends rather than worrying about improving her game.

"I really got to enjoy and really got to hang out with my friends," said Wie on Tuesday, according to AP. "I was actually the one who was calling my friends and telling them to get me out of this house."

Wie, who has been sidelined with a wrist injury, will play in the Ginn Tribute in Mount Pleasant this weekend. It will mark her first tournament competition since the PGA's Sony Open in January. Wie played in the tournament with a sore right wrist and injured her left wrist shortly thereafter while running.

Wie will miss her graduation from Punahou School in Honolulu to participate in the Ginn Tribute. She is looking forward to getting back to work.

"As soon as my doctor said I was good to go, I was like, 'I'm playing the next tournament.' I couldn't wait," Wie said. "This is it, and I'm really excited to be here."

Annika Sorenstam, who hosts the Ginn Tribute, is also set to return this weekend. Sorenstam has been out since April 1 with a ruptured and herniated disk in her back.

Sorenstam has played in only three events this year and has yet to win a championship. She's placed second twice and is 25th on the LPGA Tour money list ($158, 371).

The Ginn Tribute, at RiverTowne Country Club, has a winner's purse of $2.6 million. It is the third-most lucrative purse on the LPGA Tour behind the Evian Masters and the U.S. Women's Open.

Wie is still searching for her first win as a professional on both the LPGA and PGA side.
