Morelia, Mexico (AHN) - Silvia Cavalleri beat Lorena Ochoa by two strokes to win the Corona Morelia Championship on Sunday.
Cavalleri ended the day 7-under 66 for a 20-under 272 total on the Tres Marias course, earning $195,000.
Cavalleri posted seven birdies and no bogies in the final round. She captured the lead for good with three straight birdies on holes five through seven.
"The first birdie gave me confidence. After that I was hot to win," Cavalleri said. "It's like a dream come true. I have a lot of emotions running through me. I am full of happiness."
Ochoa finished just two strokes off the lead in her home country. Last year, Ochoa won the event with a 20-under par, equaling Cavalleri's score this time around.
Julieta Granada finished tied for second place with Ochoa, the world's top-ranked player.
"Silvia definitely won the tournament. She deserved her victory," said Ochoa.
Pat Hurst shot a 70 to finish fourth while Na On Min (72) closed in fifth place.
