Wie's Status For LPGA Major In Doubt

West Palm Beach, FL (AHN) - Injury could force Michelle Wie to miss considerable time on the LPGA Tour this year.

Wie has started every major event on the tour the last two years, but that streak could be jeopardy. Wie suffered a wrist injury during a fall last month and she was told by doctors that she'd likely be out for at least two months.

Wie's agent, Greg Nared, told AP that his client declined an invitation to play in an event next week in Phoenix. He is also unsure whether Wie will be ready for Kraft Nabisco Championship, which begins April 29 in California.

"We'll see where it goes," Nared said. "If she can hit balls next week, we'll take it from there."

Wie, ranked 17th in the world, tied for third at the Nabisco last year, but missed the playoff by one hole

"I don't think she will play unless she's ready to play," Wilcox said.

The 17-year-old, who is headed to Stanford in the fall, is still searching for her first win as a pro.
