Kapolei, Hawaii (AHN) - Paula Creamer hopes that she can continue her winning ways when the LPGA tour tees off at the Fields Open Thursday at Ko Olina Golf Club.
Creamer won the season-opening SBS Open last week at Turtle Bay, but will face another competitive field vying for the championship in the event's second year.
Organizers and tour officials can only hope that the Fields Open ends up just as exciting as last year when Meena Lee stormed from seven shots behind in the final round before outlasting Seon Hwa Lee in a playoff.
Several top pros will be playing this week for the winner's check of $180,000, and Lee will be back to defend her title after shooting a final round 65 last year and winning the championship on the third hole of sudden death.
Nine of the top-10 players from the 2006 LPGA money list will also be in the field, including Lorena Ochoa, last season's Player of the Year. Ochoa finished last week tied for fourth.
Karrie Webb, who won two straight tournaments in Australia before playing at the SBS last week and finishing in third place, will also be among the 138- player field.
Julieta Granada, who won the 2006 season ending ADT Championship, had an impressive second place finish last week and will look to keep her recent momentum going.
The field will also be heavily laden with rookies-11 to be exact-including Jin Joo Hong, who won on tour last year at the KOLON-Hana Bank Classic.
