Detroit, MI (AHN) - The Allen Park Cabrini High School softball team won its second straight state championship Saturday along with some national prestige.

The Monarchs won their 74th consecutive game, earning the team a state record and a No. 9 national ranking.

What's more, this Division 4 team (35-0) set the national record for fewest runs allowed in a season, by allowing just one the entire year. Cabrini defeated Frankfort, 10-0 for the state title.

Katie Osburn pitched her 12th no-hitter and scored the first run of the game, a homer over the centerfield fence.

"That's the best softball team I've seen, minus any college games I've seen," Frankfort coach Mike Thompson told the Detroit Free Press. "In my opinion, that team would win the state championship in any division."

Cabrini moves up to Division 3 next season.

The team outscored its opponents 366-1 this season, including 48-0 during the final five postseason games.

Cabrini is 39 victories away from breaking Vanderbilt (La.) Catholic's national record of 112 consecutive victories.
