Green Bay, WI (AHN) - On Tuesday, the Green Bay Packers executed a rarity in the history of that storied franchise as they appointed a woman to be the team's first female vice president.
The move became the first ever executive promotion in 89-years of Green Bay Packers football that they named a woman into a vice presidents role in the front office.
Vannieuwenhoven will be the team's vice president of finance and originally joined the Packers in 1995 and she was promoted to director of finance in 1999. Her duty has been to control the annual audits and monitor the team's salary cap state.
On May 30th the incoming chief executive John Jones will be taking over as the team's CEO in place of Bob Harlan. In Jones' other moves he named Jason Wied to be the vice president of administration.
Wied who is 35-years-old, came to the Packers in September of 2000 as corporate counsel. He will help Jones with league issues and will also be joining Jones at the annual NFL owners meetings.
