Seattle, WA. (AHN) - Seattle Storm forward Lauren Jackson, the WNBA's top scorer and top rebounder has also earned the league's top prize, the Most Valuable Player award.

The WNBA announced that Jackson won the award on Wednesday, garnering nearly double the number of voters' points of runner-up Becky Hammon of San Antonio. The Storm star enjoyed a remarkable season in averaging 23.8 points and 9.7 rebounds per game.

Jackson is also a force in the middle defensively for Seattle, blocking two shots per contest, good for second in the league in that category.

The seven-year veteran from Australia is a two-time winner of the award, also capturing the top prize in 2003. She received a total of 473 points, including 42 first-place votes, and earned defensive player of the year and WNBA Peak Performer honors for being the league's leading scorer and rebounder.

"Lauren Jackson is an extraordinarily gifted player who turned in one of the most remarkable seasons in WNBA history," WNBA president Donna Orender said in a statement, reported by espn.com. "In leading the Storm to the WNBA playoffs this season, Lauren displayed the kind of all-around excellence that epitomizes the term Most Valuable Player."
