West Palm Beach, FL (AHN) - As the WNBA surges firmly into the second half of the season, Detroit holds a solid lead in the Eastern Conference while San Antonio clings to a slim lead over Phoenix and Sacramento in the West.

Detroit held serve on Sunday while San Antonio took over sole possession of the Western Conference lead with narrow victories. Phoenix kept the pressure on the Silver Stars, but Sacramento fell a little further behind.

Here's a look at a full slate of action in the WNBA on Sunday:

San Antonio (16-8) 92, Seattle (13-13) 88

The Silver Stars gained a slim lead atop the Western Conference standings thanks to a tough effort from Becky Hammon.

Hammon scored 30 points to top Seattle and the league's leading scorer Lauren Jackson. Jackson finished with 29 points.

Hammon came up big when it mattered most, scoring 11 points in the fourth quarter while Sue Bird contributed 17 points in the win.

Phoenix (16-10) 80, Indiana (16-10) 75

The Mercury kept pace with San Antonio in the tightly contested Western Conference while handing the Fever a crippling loss at home.

The two teams combined for 52 points in the fourth quarter, but it was Phoenix's 23-14 edge in the third that fueled them to victory.

Tangela Smith's double-double of 18 points and 12 rebounds proved to be the difference maker for the Mercury, who have won four in a row. Diana Taurasi scored 16 and Cappie Pondexter led the team with 21.

The Fever, who are headed in the opposite direction after losing their sixth straight, got a game-high 25 points from Tan White. White buried five treys in the contest.

Minnesota (7-20) 78, Sacramento (14-10) 73

The lowly Lynx dealt the Monarchs a serious blow in their bid to reach the top of the Western Conference standings thanks to the monumental efforts of Seimone Augustus.

Augustus put up a career-high 39 points while knocking down 16-of-25 from the field, including 3-for-4 from long range, to lead her team to victory.

Minnesota shot 51 percent from the floor and hit six trifectas in all.

Sacramento crept back to within two points in the final seconds, but bricked three potential game-winning three-pointers and fell short.

Nicole Powell scored a career-high 29 points for Sacramento and Yolanda Griffith contributed 14.

Detroit (20-6) 75, Los Angeles (8-16) 73

In a battle of East vs. West, the Eastern Conference leaders got a deciding, three-point play from Plenette Pierson with 26 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter.

The final score represented Detroit's only lead of the game.

Pierson finished with 21 points to guide the Shock while Swin Cash contributed a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds.

Los Angeles, which held a 25-18 lead after the first and led 60-56 headed into the fourth, had plenty of chances to tie the game in the final half minute, but couldn't put anything together.

Taj McWilliams-Franklin led the Sparks with 16 points and 11 rebounds.

Connecticut (14-12) 67, New York (10-14) 61

The Sun outscored New York 22-13 in the fourth quarter as Katie Douglas knocked down a key running jumper in the closing minute during a tight victory.

Douglas finished with 26 points as the Sun rallied from a three-point third-quarter deficit to post the win.

The Sun, who have won eight of their last nine contests, also got 12 points from Asjha Jones.

Janel McCarville scored 18 points for the Liberty.

Chicago (12-14) 88, Houston (8-17) 70

The Sky grabbed a 26-12 lead after one quarter and never looked back, outscoring the Comets in every quarter except the fourth.

Stacey Dales led Chicago with 18 points while Jia Perkins pumped in 13, Chasity Melvin added 12 and Candice Dupree had 11.

Tina Thompson led the Comets with 10 points, though she was well below her 18.4 scoring average.

The 18-point loss was the biggest margin of defeat in Comets' franchise history.
