Houston, Texas (AHN) - A "feverish" defensive effort in the fourth-quarter helped the Indiana Fever to a 79-77 win over the Houston Comets on Tuesday night.
Indiana (14-4) clamped down defensively on Houston (5-14) in the final period, outscoring the Comets 18-10 to post the victory.
Tamika Catchings enjoyed a terrific all-around performance for the Fever, racking up 23 points, six rebounds, five assists and a pair of steals. Tammy Sutton-Brown added 20 points, and Tamika Whitmore netted 13 points for the Fever.
Latesha Byears led Houston with 15 points, while Tina Thompson chipped in with 13 points. Hamchetou Maiga-Ba and Tamecka Dixon each collected 12 points for the Comets, who led 45-38 at intermission.
Dixon had a chance to win the game, but missed a last-second heave from half-court.
