Chicago, IL. (AHN) - On a night honoring her, Candice Dupree showed why she is worth the accolades, pouring in 20 points with 11 rebounds in leading the Chicago Sky to a 78-72 win over the Minnesota Lynx on Sunday.

Chicago got off to a fast start on "Candice Dupree Bobblehead Night," rolling to a 20-4 lead with 2:49 remaining in the opening quarter. Minnesota came in shooting just 35.4 percent from the field and managed to lower that figure further by missing its first 10 shots.

Although Minnesota improved its play late in the contest it couldn't overcome the huge leads Chicago built throughout. The Sky built a 35-17 lead late in the opening half on a pair of successful free-throws by Armintie Price.

Dupree helped Chicago extend its lead to a game-high 18 points (64-46) with another pair from the stripe. Minnesota recovered a bit for a 12-2 run to open the fourth quarter, cutting the Sky's lead to 66-60, but Dupree and Dominique Canty stemmed the tide with a pair of lay ups.

Dominique Canty had 16 points and five assists for the Sky (3-3), and Chasity Melvin added 12 points for Chicago.

Seimone Augustus, the WNBA's leading scorer coming into the game, had 23 points for the Lynx (0-7).

The Lynx are off to their worst start in franchise history, recording 10 straight losses in a streak dating back to least season. Nicole Ohlde added 17 points for Minnesota. Lindsey Harding, the first overall pick of the 2007 draft, contributed a strong overall game with 14 points, five rebounds and five assists.
