Indianapolis, IN. (AHN) - The Connecticut Sun defeated the Indiana Fever, 78-74, and broke a five-game losing streak on Friday night.

Katie Douglas, one of the star players for the Sun had a slow start early in the game as she was only 1-for-6 in the first quarter, but made nine of her last 12 shots and registered career-high 30 points for the winners.

Connecticut was ahead by three points late in the fourth quarter when Indiana came back and tied it on 3-pointer with 1:44 left. Lindsay Whalen's basket got the Sun's back ahead by two. Asjha Jones, who had 16 points, including a crucial three-point play that gave Connecticut a 76-74 lead with only 27 seconds left on the clock, and Margo Dydek added 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Sun (5-7).

"It's uncharacteristic of this franchise to get such an unfortunate streak, but to come into Indiana's house and get a win is really huge for us," Douglas said. "Tonight we looked like the old Connecticut Sun of the past four years."

White responded by draining her third 3-pointer of the game to give the Fever a 74-73 lead. A 3-point play by Jones and the help of Douglas' two free throws was all that was needed to put the victory in the bag.
