Shameka Christon scored 22 points to lead the New York Liberty to a victory over the Connecticut Sun.

Ashley Battle added 18 points to help the Liberty to their seventh win of the season.

Christon's lay-up with about three minutes to go in regulation gave the Liberty the lead for good. Christon scored nine points in the final quarter.

Connecticut's Katie Douglas, who scored 17 points, missed two free throws in the waning moments to ensure New York's second win in its last six games.

Nykesha Sales scored 17 points while Asjha Jones added 14 for Connecticut (4-7), which has dropped five consecutive games.

The Sun opened the game on a 17-0 run and led 22-11 after the first period. The Liberty had to overcome a 17-point deficit to claim the victory.

San Antonio80, Minnesota 73

Sophia Young scored a career-high 24 points, guiding the San Antonio Silver Stars to a win over the Minnesota Stars.

Becky Hammon added 18 points while Erin Buescher contributed 13 points and Vickie Johnson put up 10 for the Silver Stars (6-4).

Seimone Augustus registered a game-high 27 points for the Stars (3-10).

Minnesota was careless with the ball, committing 19 turnovers in the contest.

Houston 74, Los Angeles 64

Michelle Snow had 21 points and Tina Thompson added 20 to pace the Houston Comets to their first win of the season.

The Comets, who never trailed in the game, snapped the franchise's first 10-game losing streak.

Marta Fernandez scored 17 points for the Sparks (5-5), losers of three straight.

The Sparks pulled within two points in third period, but the Comets went on a 12-4 run late in the quarter to pull ahead by 10.

Washington 106, Phoenix 101

Alana Beard's season-high 29 points helped the Washington Mystics to a much-needed win over the Phoenix Mercury.

DeLisha Milton-Jones contributed 22 points while Bernice Mosby had a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds as the Mystics set a franchise single-game scoring record.

Diana Taurasi scored 25 points to lead the Mercury (7-6), who were winners in four of their previous five games.

Penny Taylor supplied 23 points seven rebounds and six assists while Tangela Smith had 20 points and seven rebounds for Phoenix.

Phoenix was without leading scoring Cappie Ponedexter, who is sidelined due to injury.
