New York, N.Y. (AHN) - Four players reached double figures in scoring as the New York Liberty claimed a 79-69 win over the winless Washington Mystics on Tuesday night.
Shameka Christon scored 16 points, Cathrine Kraayeveld and Janel McCarville netted 11 points each and Barbara Farris added 10 for the Liberty, who improved to 6-2 with the win.
DeLisha Milton-Jones had 20 points and nine rebounds and Alana Beard added 17 points for Washington (0-8), but little else went well offensively for the Mystics, who off to their worst start in franchise history.
Jessica Davenport's layup pushed the Liberty's lead to 51-33 with 7:20 left in the third quarter, giving New York a commanding advantage. After Washington used an 8-0 run to pull closer in the second half, New York went on an 8-0 spurt of its own en route to the home-court win.
Washington did itself in with a poor shooting first half, connecting on just eight of 30 field goals as the Mystics fell behind 43-25 at the break.
