San Antonio, Texas (AHN) - It wasn't exactly the Suns and Spurs, but the Phoenix Mercury and San Antonio Silver Stars put on quite a display in their match-up on Thursday night. Diana Taurasi and the Phoenix Mercury did something that the Suns could only do once in this year's postseason: get a win in San Antonio.

Taurasi bounced back from her first career ejection on Tuesday to score 21 points and lead the Mercury past the Silver Stars, 97-85.

Phoenix outscored San Antonio 44-31 in the first half and then held serve in the second half to improve to 4-1 on the season while sending San Antonio to 3-2.

Taurasi scored 18 points in the second half to keep San Antonio at bay.

Tangela Smith actually led the Mercury with 22 points, and all five starter scored in double-figures. Cappie Pondexter scored 19, Penny Taylor put up 13 and Kelly Miller added 10. Kelly Schumacher also came off the bench to grab 10 rebounds in only 17 minutes of action.

Becky Hammon led all scorers with 25 points for the Silver Stars. She knocked down 4-of-11 from deep. Sophie Young also contributed 22 points and seven rebounds in the loss.

Phoenix made all 18 of their free throw attempts, out-shot the Silver Stars 55 percent to 36 percent and distributed the ball better, holding a 21-14 advantage in assists.
